My husband, James is an amazing cook. He will think up the most random dishes (like maple syrup + eggplant) and make it gourmet. For his birthday, he was gifted a high-pressure outdoor gas cooker (Thanks, Brian & Faith!) and has been stir-frying a lot since.
The stir-fry technique is surprisingly quite healthy for you, despite the unflattering “frying” term. Originated from China, stir-fry (chao) involves major high temperatures and quick searing of food. By flash cooking, vegetables are able to retain much more nutrients that are usually destroyed by heat, and meat doesn't soak up as much of the oil.
Added bonus to cooking outside: less energy used, no smoky apartment!
